What’s happening in Spring 2015?

Days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer and dresses are getting shorter. Spring is approaching and with it comes a unique line-up of new anime. Spring season 2015 looks promising with a great variety of new shows from almost all genres.

Here’s a quick overview of the next season. We’ve picked out four upcoming anime we cannot wait to see. Enjoy!

Is it wrong to try and pick up girls in a dungeon?

Dungeon ni deai o motomeru no wa machigatte iru darou ka?

First up is an anime that shows Japan’s love for long and weird names. Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a Dungeon? (also known as DanMachi) is set in a fantasy universe similar to RPG video games. The story revolves around – you might have guessed it – dungeons and the adventurers exploring them. Our protagonist Bell Cranel isn’t interested in defeating monsters or finding treasures. He has only one goal on his mind: finding a girlfriend.

DanMachi’s story sounds promising. The dungeon itself is set in the world of Orario and is divided into different floors that reach deep down into the earth. Adventurers are divided into different Familias that are supported by gods and goddesses. As a team they defeat monsters and escape traps, all while levelling up their skills.

Just imagine a typical JRPG game turned into an anime. Now combine that with a little bit of comedy and romance and you will get DanMachi. The first episode is already on air, so check it out.

Digimon Adventure Tri

This might be the highest anticipated anime of this season. Finally, after 15 years Digimon Adventure gets a sequel – and the fans cannot wait to see it. This anime was hyped ever since Toei animation announced its release at the Digimon Adventure 15th Anniversary Event and will now soon be on air.

The story is set around six years after the events of the original show. Taichi and his friends have grown up and become high school students. Not too much of the actual story is known at this point, but one thing is sure – the DigiDestines will go on new adventures. Together with their Digimons they have to travel back to the Digiworld and save it once more.

Of course there have been numerous other Digimon shows after Digimon Adventure, but this one stars the original character almost everyone is familiar with. What makes this sequel so special is the fact that the characters grew up with the audience. The kids that enjoyed Digimon Adventure are young adults right now and can relate to the older version of their favorite characters. A must-watch!

Rinne of the Boundary

Kyoukai no Rin-ne

Kyoukai no Rin-ne or Rinne of the Boundary is something to look forward to if you’re a fan of old-school anime. It is the newest show of mangaka legend Rumiko Takahashi who’s responsible for other famous shows like Inuyasha or Ranma 1/2.

The story follows Sakura Mamiya who is able to see spiritual beings such as ghosts after getting lost in the woods as a small child. Her powers are a bother to her and she wishes she could live a normal high school life. Everything’s bound to change once Rinne Rokudo steps into her life. Her classmate who has been absent since the beginning of the school year is more than what he seems to be.

If you enjoyed Rumiko’s other creations then you will enjoy Kyoukai no Rin-ne as well. It has the same vibe and personal touch while still being innovative. Her creations surely don’t disappoint, so give it a try.

Seraph of the End

Owari no Seraph

Last up is a darker show for all the vampire fans out there. Seraph of the End is set in the near future and shows a unique combination of futuristic elements and Victorian vampires.

Seraph of the End starts out with chaos and destruction. A deadly virus has spread that kills all humans that are older than 13 years. At the same time, vampires that are immune to the virus start emerging and taking over control. In this apocalyptic world ruled by monsters orphan Yuichiro tries to survive and gain freedom. He sets out to kill every last vampire of this world and to get revenge for his dead friends.

If you’re not already convinced, just consider that Seraph of the End’s second season has already be confirmed. This show has made its way into the hearts of its viewer and sometimes even gets compared to Attack on Titan. Be ready for a great adventure that will follow you through 2015.
