Anime – What’s happening in Summer 2015?

As spring slowly turns into summer a new anime season is coming at us, consisting of completely new shows as well as sequels to old favorites. What better way to escape the heat of this season than to stay inside and watch some anime?

Today we want to introduce you to three of the numerous new shows starting this summer. They range from Comedy and Slice of Life all the way to Action and Drama, so there should be something for all of you to enjoy. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get started!

First up we have a sequel to an already popular anime; Working!!! is the third season of the Working!! series and takes its fans back to the family restaurant in Hokkaido and its weird employees.

Working!!! is a typical feel-good anime that perfectly fits the warm temperatures of the summer. As a Slice of Life show it does not try to catch viewers with a dramatic storyline, but more with its special charm and the way it portrays the everyday life of the characters. Fans of this series will certainly enjoy the third season as well. Even if you haven’t watched it before, you might want to give Working!!! a try; its characters and comedy will certainly entertain you for hours on end.

Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life

Gakkou Gurashi!

Gakkou Gurashi might be the hardest show to explain in a couple of sentences. At first glance it looks like a nice story revolving around a couple of school girls. This might be true, but there is one more important aspect to the story: It is set in a Zombie apocalypse and our main characters are the only survivors left inside the school building.

This might sound like a typical anime show that tries to combine cute characters with cool zombies without caring too much about adding a decent storyline. It will be up to the viewers to make a judgement, but right now Gakkou Gurashi promises to be more than that. The story does not focus on the survival of the group, but the new life they have to accept. The girls try their best to protect the school that they love so much and to stay together as friends. Gakkou Gurashi is a novel Horror show with lovely characters and an interesting plot, so give it a try.

Genres: Mystery, Horror, School, Slice of Life, Supernatural, Seinen

Gakkou Gurashi

Last up is a show filled with action and drama. Gangsta is a manga adaptation set in the fictive city of Ergastulum, a place filled with prostitution, murder and crime. Right in the middle of it we find our two heroes, Nic and Worick. The gangster duo takes on jobs that no one else wants and is not afraid of getting their hands dirty.

Gangsta is set in a near future that is ruled by the mafia and other criminals. So if you are a fan of violence and good action scenes, this is the show that you should be looking forward to. The original manga drawn by newcomer Kohske is not only outstanding when it comes to artwork and character design, but it is also really entertaining. Nic and Worick are a great team as well as badass characters that you just have to fall in love with.

Genres: Action, Drama, Seinen

This was our quick peek into the upcoming season. Of course, this is only a small percentage of what’s going to happen this summer, so stay tuned for more. Summer 2015 promises to be a great season with lots of new shows and long-awaited sequels.
